My name is Kevin Liles. I am a 2011 communications and media studies graduate of Clayton State University. Clayton State has helped me realize my dream of becoming a full-time freelance photographer. As part of the communications and media studies program, I got a solid background in studies with film and other aspects of media that have really helped me do a lot of the work that I am now doing with some clients, such as The New York Times, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, et cetera.
Clayton State is on an absolutely beautiful campus. It has so many things to offer, especially in terms of its natural landscape. When I was here, it felt like I was just in the middle of nature. I could study about a lake. I could take a stroll. It was really, really relaxing. It doesn't feel like you're in Atlanta whatsoever.
In 2005, I was working as a photographer for a newspaper. And I took one class here. And after taking that class, I was hooked. And it was just a really good fit.
My favorite thing about Clayton State has to be the professors. The professors are just genuine. They really care. Well, they were available for me whenever I needed help. The professors and how much time they took with me was perhaps my favorite thing here.
